The first time Susan W. Engelkemeyer addressed the Nichols College community in 2011 as its new president, someone in the audience told her she needed more women around her. The Massachusetts college’s seven-member cabinet — known as the President’s Council — was seated in the front row. WORCESTER - Lt. Gov. Karyn E. Polito urged Nichols College graduates Saturday to remember their foundation, keep up the momentum with their flywheel, and calibrate their moral compass when faced with a crossroads. “As we make the important decisions in our life, we need a compass,” Ms. Polito told graduates. “I define that compass as a purpose. The purpose is what will light a fire inside you to make something better. The purpose is what motivates you; it’s your drive.” Ms. Polito was the commencement speaker at the Nichols College Commencement Exercises held at the DCU Center on Saturday.
